3 underrated shops in Twin Cities (and Fridley)

It’s those shops that you stumble upon and want to shout about from the rooftops, where you walk in and can’t believe someone created this where you live. The kind of place you wonder when it’ll be too soon or not to visit again. There are 3 we think you should know about today. Two of the shops are in the Twin Cities and one is in Fridley. The commonalities between them is that they’ve either gone under the radar compared to others or are known for something other than shopping. We’re here to share why we hope you love going there to shop as much as we do.

1. The Shop at Khaluna

Khaluna is a restaurant that is widely known and commended. Its neighboring shop (and event space) is more like a magical secret of a haven with the same tropical aesthetic but one that you can purchase. There is an exceptional curation of baskets and kitchen utensils - all made from natural materials. The attention to detail and sense of hospitality within the space is supreme.

2. Wild Things Antiques & Clapping Monkey House of Coffee & Wild Things Market

If someone asked where to go to experience a better version of the strip mall, Wild Things Antiques would be it. Through the winding halls filled with vintage booths, you can find Instagram-worthy bar carts, wicker furniture that rivals that of The Wicker Shop, owls and elephants in any shape desired, a shopping experience for Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter all in one, and the most incredible vintage Minneapolis postcards. And then! The surprise at the end is a wonderful living room-esque coffee shop where you can enjoy a drink, relax, and deliberate on potential purchases. Their branding should also get major kudos for being fun, different, and effective.

3. Mojo Coffee Gallery

Right off the train tracks in Northeast Minneapolis across from a pretty cool bunny sculpture, you’ll find a beloved coffee spot for the neighborhood. Mojo Coffee Gallery is located on the ground floor of the California Building and hosts an exceptional interior filled with pottery and antiques for purchase. Their breakfast menu is all you need to make that deadline.
